Team SDG&E | Sempra Makes an Impact at Coastal Cleanup Day

Coastal Cleanup Day is a tradition for Team Sempra | SDG&E that goes back more than two decades. Since partnering with I Love A Clean San Diego, employee volunteers have collected more than 110,000 pounds of trash from San Diego’s cherished parks and beaches, helping to protect and preserve our local ecosystem for future generations.

This year, employee volunteers, family and friends collected trash at five locations across San Diego County, finding everything from bottles and cans to shoes, hub caps, and even a calculator. Volunteers also dug up roots, removed invasive plants, planted fruit trees, pruned vegetation, and planted native species to create habitat.

Watch the video below to hear more about the importance of this cleanup event from our employees who volunteered at the event, including Kazeem Omidiji, Elizabeth Imada and Art Romero:

Our executives including Bruce Folkmann, Scott Crider, Jenn Jett, Tashonda Taylor, Dan Skopec, Estela de Llanos, and Miguel Romero and Sempra's Lisa Alexander, Karen Sedgwick, and Mitch Mitchell also proudly represented our company across several locations.

“I am a resident of the City of Escondido, and I couldn’t be prouder to take part in this cleanup today,” said our VP of Gas Operations Tashonda Taylor, who volunteered alongside Dan Skopec at our Dixon Lake site in Escondido.

Thank you to all who came out to support Coastal Cleanup Day 2022!
