#STEMStories: The Sky’s the Limit

As a high school junior, the thought of going to college and selecting a major can be daunting. Imagine if professionals in fields that you were interested in majoring like science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) were at your fingertips and the sky was the limit in the questions you could ask.

Recently, San Diego County high school juniors got this exact opportunity at the fourth annual Business and Youth (BAY) Expo, hosted by Explore Solutions, a local non-profit that is committed to making career and college preparation more accessible to high school students.

At the BAY career exploration event, engineers and IT professionals from SDG&E shared the highlights of their innovative careers at the company and met with students on a one-on-one basis to answer questions and inspire interest in their fields. Students also had the opportunity to visit exhibits that highlight the innovation and technology that is driving the businesses in our region.

SDG&E’s Inspiring Future Leaders giving initiative supports STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning and non-profit partners dedicated to the development of the next generation of diverse, prepared and skilled workforce in San Diego and southern Orange Counties.  This STEM mentoring opportunity is a unique and powerful experience for students as they plan and work to pursue a successful, rewarding career.
