SDG&E and SoCalGas Recognized Again as Best Places to Work in IT

For the second year in a row, SDG&E and SoCalGas have been selected as winners in Computerworld’s Best Places to Work in IT awards. Now in its 29th year, the awards showcase the IT departments in the U.S. and beyond that offer workers great benefits and compensation, along with a stimulating work environment.

“Championing people is a core value at SDG&E and SoCalGas, and we are committed to providing a supportive environment where our IT teams can do meaningful work and contribute to our efforts to be the most innovative energy companies in America,” said Ben Gordon, senior vice president, chief information officer, and chief digital officer for SoCalGas and SDG&E. “I’m proud to see that work and our culture recognized once again, and excited to share news of this win across our companies.”

Several initiatives at SDG&E and SoCalGas were considered during Computerworld’s judging process, including: our new hybrid work model, IT’s Digital Energy culture transformation, the Energy with Purpose Awards program, our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) events and Employee Assistance Program.

Best Places to Work in IT Program

Every year since 1994, The Best Places to Work in IT program honors the top 100 work environments for technology professionals. Companies are evaluated by their answers to Computerworld’s comprehensive survey, which includes questions about companies' benefits, training and development, IT salary changes, percent of IT employees promoted, IT turnover rates, and the percentage of women employees in management in IT departments. Computerworld also collects information about DEI programs, remote/hybrid working, and company growth. A panel of judges consisting of industry experts from both within and outside of Computerworld evaluated entries and confirmed this year’s honorees.
