Going to Bat for....Education

More than 20 members of the San Diego non-profit community will benefit from the SDG&ESan Diego Padres philanthropic partnership—Going to Bat for San Diego.

Imagine building a robotic car from a smart phone, designing an invention using a 3D printer and securing a paying professional job—all before graduating high school.

While these are simply exciting ideas for many students, San Diego’s Classroom of the Future Foundation makes innovative programs like these a reality for our next generation of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEM/STEAM) leaders.

Representatives from Classroom of the Future and Health Sciences High & Middle College joined San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) Chief Energy Delivery Officer, Caroline Winn, on the field at Petco Park during the June 28 pre-game ceremony to present a $10,000 donation to Classroom of the Future in recognition of their work to inspire advances in San Diego County’s learning environments.

“SDG&E and the Padres are committed to the success of San Diego’s future leaders,” Winn said. “By supporting the Classroom of the Future Foundation, we ensure that our next generation will be the best and brightest, ready to compete globally and help San Diego keep the title of America’s Finest City.”
