Celebrating and Protecting Our Planet: Earth Month 2018

Celebrating and Protecting Our Planet: Earth Month 2018

This April marks the 48th anniversary of Earth Day. While Earth Day officially takes place on April 22, our employees are participating in and supporting local earth fairs throughout this month, and our environmental sustainability initiatives are ongoing.

Today, SDG&E held our own earth fair at our Century Park headquarters to inspire our employees to engage in various projects and programs that promote biodiversity, habitat conservation, pollution prevention, and carbon-free transportation. One of the highlights of the event is a beautiful chalk mural, representing our region’s biodiversity.

Earth Day is 365 Days a Year

Throughout the year, we collaborate with organizations such as the San Diego Audubon Society and the Escondido Creek Conservancy to protect and restore precious habitat and promote conservation. To date, our contributions have helped protect 130 endangered and sensitive species, and preserved more than 12,000 acres of high-quality habitat.

We also support local organizations through our Environmental Champions initiative, which provides grants to nonprofit organizations whose programs promote environmental education, community engagement, and stewardship in underserved communities.
