SDG&E Supports Homeless Initiatives Across San Diego County

More than $120,000 given to provide shelter and food assistance to the region’s most vulnerable

SDG&E recently awarded grants to eight local non-profit organizations that provide assistance to homeless men, women and children living in San Diego County. The grants will help fund programs that provide safe shelter and food assistance to the area’s homeless population, as well as one organization that works to shape public policy.

“At SDG&E, we are committed to the safety and well-being of every member of our San Diego community,” said Mitch Mitchell, SDG&E vice president of state governmental affairs and external affairs. “By supporting the organizations that are protecting and providing essential care to our region’s most vulnerable populations, we can aid them in their efforts to improve the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by homelessness.”

The largest single grant awarded was $75,000 to the Lucky Duck Foundation, to support the organization’s outreach projects, which include three tent shelters that provide up to 700 residents with housing for as long as 120 days while they look for permanent lodging. SDG&E grants will also support the following organizations and projects:
