Event Honoring Batman at the Comic-Con Museum

SDG&E Powers the “Bat Signal” for Comic-Con Kickoff Event

Event Honoring Batman at the Comic-Con Museum

Tonight, as the number of people carrying suitcases filled with costumes reached close to its peak in San Diego, we’re going into action as a sponsor for “The Gathering” event at the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park, kicking off Comic-Con International 2019.

The event honors Batman as the first inductee to the Comic-Con Museum’s Character Hall of Fame, as well as the character’s 80th anniversary this year, while raising funds for the museum’s opening, scheduled in 2021.

Guests channeling their inner Bruce Wayne in cocktail attire and their outer Joker, Harley Quin, Catwoman, and other characters in cosplay will walk the “black carpet” and be greeted with the opportunity to be among the first to view the museum’s Gotham City exhibit and participate in a silent auction, as well as various interactive experiences.

Whendell, our Time-of-Use expert whose mission is to help everyone become an energy hero, will be at the event in spirit. Bags with his image on them will be given to event attendees.

The highlight of this evening’s main event will be the ceremony inducting the dark knight into the hall of fame, which will feature appearances from special guests.

Energy Superheroes will be on Standby to Support Comic-Con

The excitement will last through the after party all the way until midnight. But when event goers hang up their capes for the evening, our energy superheroes will remain hard at work.

Throughout Comic-Con, a group of highly-trained individuals will be ready to spring into action if an interruption threatens Comic-Con’s electric power.

They are electricity. They are the light. They are… our electric crews, and they’re here to make sure everyone gets their Comic-Con experience at full power (and that air conditioners keep running for all those brave enough to don a full cosplay costume in the middle of summer).

Go out, enjoy the festivities, and know that from loudspeakers and strobe lights to night lights and living room televisions, our superheroes are out there every day to make sure our region enjoys safe, reliable power around the clock.
