Report Highlights SDG&E Program for Bringing Electric Vehicle Chargers to Disadvantaged Communities

Our commitment to help disadvantaged communities transition to electric vehicles was highlighted in a recent report, titled “AchiEVe: Model State & Local Policies to Accelerate Electric Vehicle Adoption.” Co-authored by the Sierra Club and Plug in America, the report spotlights our Power Your Drive Program, which is installing a high percentage of chargers in disadvantaged communities.

The original goal for Power Your Drive was to put at least 10 percent of the chargers in underserved communities that suffer from high levels of air pollution, such as tailpipe emissions from cars and trucks, due to their proximity to freeways or industrial facilities. To date, nearly 35 percent of the chargers we have installed are in disadvantaged communities.
