Our deepest sympathies go out the victims and families impacted by the recent wildfires in our state. These fires have been fueled by some of the worst conditions ever seen, creating incomprehensible challenges for fire agencies.
While the San Diego region faced similar extreme weather conditions this past week, we were fortunate to avoid major fires here. That good fortune is supported by year-round fire prevention planning, additional resources and collaborative efforts among fire agencies, local and regional government bodies, community members and the dedicated employees at SDG&E.
The safety of our communities is our highest priority. We de-energize power for public safety during extreme conditions to minimize fire risk. It is not a decision we take lightly, and we recognize it is disruptive to daily life. We sincerely thank our customers for their understanding. Let’s continue to work together collectively to avoid catastrophic fires and take every safety precaution to help our region avoid them.
