Aug. 16: Flex Alert Declared by California ISO

Conservation remains critical through Wednesday

The California ISO has issued a Flex Alert through Wednesday, Aug. 19, calling for increased conservation throughout the state of California, including here in our service territory. To help avoid further rotating outages, we are encouraging customers to conserve energy as much as they can. If conditions do not improve, it’s likely we could experience additional rotating outages throughout the duration of this heatwave. If further outages are called, we will make every effort to notify customers with as much notice as possible via news outlets, our social channels, sdge.com and phone calls. 

Customers who experienced rotating outages on Friday and Saturday shouldn’t be impacted if we are asked to initiate rotating outages today. Also, while rotating outages will be widespread in the region, communities located in High Fire Threat Districts who experience Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) are not expected to be impacted.  Rotating outages occur in blocks, with customers experiencing an outage of approximately one hour, or until the CAISO issues an order to discontinue load curtailment efforts.
