Become a Shelter of Hope: Learn, Donate, Volunteer During the Red Cross' Annual Campaign

Yesterday, our partners at the local chapter of the American Red Cross kicked off its annual Shelter of Hope Campaign at its Kearny Mesa headquarters to raise funds and awareness for the critical services they provide in our community.

The event, the first of the nine-day campaign, featured a breakfast, family activities, blood donations, and lunchtime food trucks as Red Cross representatives informed attendees about Red Cross services and following Shelter of Hope events.

“The Red Cross may be best known for disaster relief and blood collection, but we provide a wide variety of services in our community,” said Regional Red Cross CEO Sean Mahoney. “Shelter of Hope is a way for us to highlight everything we do, while demonstrating the need for donations to support these critical services.”

How You Can Participate

Throughout the week, Shelter of Hope will feature events ranging from offering mind-body workshops to service members and their families, to installing fire alarms, to blood donations, to partnering with the San Diego Humane Society to teach community members how to keep their pets safe in an emergency.

These events demonstrate the wide variety of ways the American Red cross makes a difference in out community.  We’re proud to support an organization in continuing the work they do responding to disasters, helping keep community members safe from home fires, supporting military families, and so much more.
